Handmade

The INIZIO by Genaio is a dress sneaker in smooth white calf leather, made by hand in Montegranaro, in the heart of Le Marche, Italy.

The upper is full-grain calf leather, the finest part of the hide, left with its natural surface so it softens and gains character with wear. It is sewn by hand and Strobel constructed. A finely ribbed white cotton grosgrain edges every border, running around the heel and down to the sole. Inside: a hand-tanned, natural undyed calf leather lining and a leather insole over an ergonomic rubber footbed. Flat, polished silver-tone eyelets and cotton laces keep the line clean. On the tongue sits a hand-stitched silk label in cherry red, with Genaio embroidered in white.

The sole is the Serena cupsole by Margom®, the renowned sole maker from Le Marche. Made from a premium vulcanised rubber blend, it is developed for long wear and to stay white without yellowing. It is bonded, then stitched around the full perimeter, and it absorbs shock and resists abrasion.

Available in sizes 36–45 (women 36–40 · men 41–45). Runs one size large.

THE INIZIO

WHY?

Because elegance should not be reserved for special occasions. The INIZIO dress sneaker carries the spirit of our custom shoemaking into every day, so that an ordinary morning can feel like an occasion of its own. A fine grosgrain finish rests softly against the ankle, and invisible seams leave the silhouette pure and uninterrupted. It is a shoe that keeps its grace long after others have lost theirs.

HOW?

Slowly, and by hand. Each piece of soft Italian calf leather is cut by a craftsman's eye, each insole stitched by hand, and the Strobel construction gives the dress sneaker a supple, glove-like ease. The leather comes from a tannery awarded the Gold rating of the Leather Working Group, where every hide is traced back to its origin. Beneath it lies the Margom® Serena cupsole, made from a vulcanised rubber blend by Italy's renowned sole maker, then bonded and stitched around the full perimeter. Every supplier was chosen by us in person and every material bought direct at the source, with no middlemen, so that nothing stands between you and the craftsmanship.
